Houghton Lodge historic house tours

Houghton Lodge historic house tours. It is a family home that has been described by visitors as ‘a little piece of heaven’ with gardens providing colour and delight throughout the seasons.  But what lies behind the doors of the  ‘Rural Retreat’ is something that only a few visitors get to find out.

Houghton Lodge & Gardens has organised five house tours for the 2016 season for visitors to discover more about the stunning 18th century Cottage Orné which is idyllically set above the River Test.
A Grade II* Historic House and only Hampshire finalist in Country Life’s Magazine and Savills: England’s Finest House Award 2011, the house was built in 1793 and probably intended as a fishing lodge.“ Whilst the house is open to pre-booked groups throughout the year, so many of our regular visitors ask us to see inside. Following the success of previous visitor tours, we thought we would offer a number of dates for the 2016 season.” said owner Sophie Busk.

“We enjoy showing visitors around the house which is still very much a family home – we have plenty of stories to tell too”
