New improvements

It has been a busy start to the season at Houghton Lodge Gardens with plenty of updates and new features to enhance and improve our visitor’s experience.

Our new visitor toilet facilities were up and “running” by Easter and have been much admired by visitors, particularly the attention to detail and the high-class ambiance which the finest fittings and joinery create.

One visitor commented: “ the new washrooms are fit for Buckingham Palace – Magnificent, Thank you” (30 March 2016) and another said“ A wonderful toilet facility, very tasteful “

Across the site the outdoor buildings have been freshly painted with our new colour scheme giving a crisp and clean appearance. These have also been applied to the Conservatory, which along with new seating provides a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the tranquility of the gardens.

ImprovementsIIIIn the gardens; on the track past the grotto, we’ve placed new pigmented concrete in place of the existing ruinous concrete to make it easier for our marquee vehicles and wedding suppliers to reach the lawns.  We have especially chosen pigmented concrete to give an earthy effect, which blends with the surroundings.

Across the gardens the gardening team and group of volunteers, the Swallows, have been hard at work clearing and weeding in preparation for the early summer flowers, plants and shrubs which are steadily making appearances.

We continue to make improvements and as always, welcome feedback from our visitors.
